Gotta Glow: A Beyonce Inspired Make Up Look

Dear beauties,

How are you girls doing? It's September already and I hope it's gonna be very nice to me :)

Lately I felt so overwhelmed with my energizer bunny a.k.a. my daughter, It's been a while since I posted my last inspired make up, probably it was in June, so I thought it would be a good start if I create another one in the first September post. And the inspiration goes to...

Beyonce. In case you don't know :p
Yes, Beyonce, that diva! I wouldn't tell you how much I loved her voice since she was in Destiny's Child (and my most favorite Brown Eyes at that moment), but I also admire her look and her glowing, sun-kissed make up. As I feel more alike to Beyonce rather than to the K-Pop gank, and accidentally I found a grab-and-go outfit that resembles Beyonce's signature style, so be it!

ALERT: Sorry for the low resolutions pictures below. I found it's impossible for me to create make up look during the day (because I am working) and during the day in weekend (because my daughter is so possessive), so apparently I only would have time before sleep :(

BASE:

Put on your favorite liquid foundation that will give you a dewy finish. There's nothing wrong with excess oil if you want to create a glowing look like Beyonce's. But, don't forget to prime and prep before applying foundation, to make it lasts longer, and set with your favorite loose powder to make it stays on place. Please be reminded to use your exact color or one shade darker, as you want to have a sun-kissed make up rather than Bella Swan's look in Twilight.

EYES:

First of all, let's have a conclusion that Beyonce always wearing a natural eye make up, but with noticeable shimmer. Even though sometimes she had smokey-eyes, but the color remains very neutral. As I was creating this look at night, so I prefer to make it smokier than just natural eyes. The color that I put on my lid was mostly gold/bronze and shimmer peach, but I used a dark blue color on the crease, instead of taupe or chocolate. Put on the black eyeliner to sharpen your eyes, and don't forget to apply a single stroke of brown eyeshadow on the outer waterline, continue with the lightest shimmery shade on the inner corner. Add falsies.

CHEEKS:

This part was the most interesting, as you may put a lot of bronzer on the apple of your cheeks after contouring your face.Don't be afraid because we want to show off that glow!

After bronzer, you may also need to apply highlighter on the upper cheekbones and under eyes area. Highlighter is very useful to reflect the light and create a natural glow. You can see the instant difference on before and after tapping some highlighter on some parts of your face.

LIPS:

Well, Beyonce is known for her wild and chic personality. Although most of the times Beyonce is wearing a nude lipstick, but adding a brighter and braver color is not a sin. So, this is the time to wear on bold lipstick (besides bold lipstick is really really happening now). You can choose either dark red, dark purple or burgundy.

...and VOILA!

Final look. And oh, this look is also wearable for day, just change the lipstick into coral.

This is the result that I made last night. Pretty alike, eh, except for the blonde hair. Sorry, feel hesitate to color my hair since I am proud enough with black :)

What do you think of this look?
I hope you enjoy and already feel 'glowing' today. Have a nice Wednesday! ~xoxo~

[Review] MUFE Rouge Artist Intense #1 Mat Flesh: It's matte like no other!

Hello, ladies!

Recently I love to play with the bold and smokey-eye make up. To balance out my look, I have to temporarily say goodbye to those intense and dark lipsticks. I checked my beauty case and realized that I still have my favorite nude matte lipstick from Make Up Forever (MUFE), even it's only 1/5 left on the tube. I bought it in May 2013, and when it almost finished, I kept it back on my beauty case because I loved it too much and still wanted to use this if necessary.

MUFE Rouge Artist Intense has pretty high rate in Make Up Alley. It comes in 50 wide ranged of shades from the #1 (mat flesh) to #50 (satin black). Each lipstick named based on what texture and finish it will create. For example, if the finish is matte, then the name will be 'mat flesh', 'mat orange pink', 'mat pink' and so on. If the finish is satin, you can see it from the name of 'satin light taupe' or 'satin rosewood'. If the finish is pearly, the name will also consist with it -- 'pearly mauve', 'pearly plum', etc. Let me tell you that the matte lipsticks are very intense and long wearing. I've tried my friend's in #8 mat bright red, and the color stayed until the end of the day, without too much fading. And I also needed oil-based make up remover to take it off.

Since I am a fan of matte ones, I picked #1 mat flesh and I was kinda worried if the color washed me out. Once I tried and applied, no. The color looks fine for my NC35/NW30 medium skin. It didn't wash me out at all. It softened and balanced out my bold eye make up successfully.

What is it?

Formulated with 50% more pigment than the traditional lipstick, Rouge Artist Intense gives an immediate true-to-color result. A blend of three natural waxes, the creamy texture glides on effortlessly for a long-lasting hold. The extensive color and texture range provides unlimited creativity.

My take on the product:

Hello matte fans, all your desires and expectations on how matte lipsticks should be is now come true! This product is true to its claim. The pigmentation is superb, and the endurance is wow. Even for this lightest shade, the color stays until 6 hours without getting streaky and too much accentuate fine lines. The color is perfectly nude, it's not too pink nor too orange. The texture is stiff, almost like crayon, but I found it's not difficult to apply though (maybe for darker ones, the application can be a bit uneven). Also, if you have dry lips, you may need to apply lip balm underneath, otherwise you may find it to be too drying and your lips can get chapped. But for me, I love, super love, a truly matte finish :)

Rating:

  • Product: 4 out of 5
  • Packaging: 4 out of 5
  • Quality: 4 out of 5
  • Overall: 4 out of 5
  • Would I buy again? yes, but perhaps will buy #3 mat caramel this time
  • Price:   $21, last year it costs idr 275.000. not sure if it's more expensive now.

Have you tried this lipstick before? ~xoxo~

Make Over Le Secret Fantaisie Launching Event Report (EOTD with the Freebies)

On Tuesday, 20 May 2014, I was attending the Make Over event when they launched the Spring/Summer Make Up Collection called "Le Secret Fantaisie" at the Le Meridien Hotel, Jakarta.

No less than 40 beauty bloggers came (I was too lazy to count exactly :p), and as this was my second event after self-claiming as one of Indonesian beauty bloggers, I was so happy since I met new friends to share the same passion with me. I wasn't being to aggressive since I was quite a newbie, I paid attention to what they're doing and adapting myself (as much as I have to) as they're mostly at they're early twenties or even younger (well, I know how OLD I am now, though they surprisingly thought that I was 22 *play Taylor Swift's song immediately* *bitch-slapped*)

First of all, I loved how Make Over decorated the room and table arrangement. It was very detailed, with a glass jar of lollipops (or candies) with each of our name tag, showing us where to sit. Other words, they were giving us opportunity to get-to-know-stranger, rather than sitting with the-person-that-you-already-know :) The event started with the launching of Spring/Summer make up collection labelled Le Secret Fantaisie, along with the short video that showing the 4 variants of Make Over Trivia Eye Shadow, including 1 lip color. They are (see picture below, from left to right):

Dolly Crush "The Doll" : Feminine pretty charming lovely chic playful adorable dainty
Magical Fairy Tale "The Flamboyant" : Lively fresh whimsical vivid feisty warm vibrant fascinating.
Enchanting Nude Spell "The Lady" : Natural classy elegant simple enchanting ladylike classic sophisticated.
Love At First Sight "The Bombshell" : Glamorous irresistible seductive exquisite mysterious stunning daring bold.

In this event, Make Over also invited Mr. Wilson Eng, a prominent MUA from Singapore. He demonstrated the tutorial using this collection on model.

The result was very sheer soft eye make up but pretty, especially because the model has pale skin. As for me or many Indonesians, it will be a bit hard to apply this kind of look. We should add some more bold colors to make our eyes stand out.

Make Over also held the make up competition and selfie competition to be upload in their Instagram account (@makeoverid) and twitter. I tried to do some experiments during the show, but I am still amateur on eye make up, so the result was disappointing so-so :)

The picture above shows me eye make up using Enchanting Nude Spell "The Lady", the one that most suitable for daily look. Apparently I found that the brown color isn't too intense to fulfill my liking. So, for this shade, I'll pass. This one was included in the freebies that I got after the event.

Yesterday, when I was attending a relative's wedding reception, I tried the other palette that I got from the goodie bag. It is the Magical Fairy Tale "The Flamboyant". I personally hesitate to pick the blue eyeshadow, as I thought it would be contrast with my skin color. But, I found that the 'blue' in this palette is rather pretty and matches to any skin tone.

Last but not least, I enjoyed the event and thanked Make Over for the invitation. Besides bringing home some good new stuff from Make Over, there was also a photo booth so I got 3 pictures with other beauty bloggers. Hey, I feel young! :D

See you soon on the next post ~xoxo~

Etude House Rosy Tint Lips #7 Tea Rose: Pretty but Sticky

I guess I am now in my active phase for blogging.

Three posts within a week. Even this week is yet to finish. So, I probably will post some more. Just be prepared :D

This time, a lipstick. Well, not exactly a lipstick though, some say it's more like a lipstain. They claim this range as liquid creamy lipstain that dries in matte velvet finish. This is my first Korean product that listed in my lipstick stash.

At first I was very attracted with the packaging and color selections. So cute, feel like in the middle of the blooming roses somewhere outhere. But our parents always said not to judge the book by its cover.

I chose the shade #7 Tea Rose, simply because I am a fan of nude lipstick. Tea Rose is the most neutral shade of all. It has a slight peachy brown undertone and looks wearable on any occasion.

So, even though shade #8 After blossom is the most favorite, I insisted to buy Tea rose instead. See the swatches picture above, don't you think Tea rose is pweety? Alright, let's start my review:

PACKAGING 4.0/5.0

Beautiful. Even the box looks stunningly elegant. I love the combination of white and pink flowers. However, the tube is quite hard to press so it needs effort to squeeze the product out from tube. It also has weakness on the sponge tip, if you are considering for hygiene, it definitely will turn you off.

The oh-so-pretty box...

...and overall packaging.

SHADE 3.5/5.0

The shade is a little disappointment. It washed me out! At first I was confused on how this lovely peachy color could wash me out. I am even regularly applying Make Up Forever Rouge Artist #1 Mat Flesh which is super pale, but it doesn't wash me out at all.

MUFE Rouge Artist Intense #1 Mat Flesh

CONSISTENCY 3.0/5.0

Gosh, I was expecting more for this creamy lipstain, but I ended up thinking that the consistency is way too creamy to blend out. I even felt it more on sticky side. Meh.

Swatch

Didn't you see that even the swatch looks uneven on the back of my hand? It's worse on lips, and it accentuates the dry patches.

FINISH 2.5/5.0

Nevertheless, besides the uneven consistency and the color that successfully washed me out, this lipstain also dries out my lips, right after application. I know, I probably need to apply lip balm underneath or scrub my lip first to make it smoother, but that's not what you supposed to do before applying a matte finish lipstick/lipstain because it wouldn't give you the real matte effect. So, I would say NO to this. I only used it 1x, I even could not sell this as preloved because the sponge tip applicator is not hygienic at all. After all, I think this product would just sit on my make up case forever. ~xoxo~

I am sorry Etude, you failed me this time :(

Natural Plum Make Up: TheBalm Pinstripe & NARS Tonkin Review

Hello, Missy!

Duh, mau blogging tapi kok lagi gak mood nulis bahasa Inggris, jadi mari yuk kita review produk kali ini dengan bahasa Indonesia aja (walaupun berasanya jadi aneh tapi marilah kita coba).
Jadi hari ini judulnya aku mau share pengalaman aku yang paling seneng sama warna ungu, pake baju nuansa ungu, dan ber-make up pun hobi banget sama warna yang satu ini. Nah, berhubung kulitku ini gelap (hey, I'm proud of having tanned skin loh!), jadi mesti rada hati2 juga milih warna ungu, karena gak semua ungu cocok untuk kulit gelap.

Lavender mood
Lavender looks good on Natalie's Portman skin!
So, princess-y look is no longer boring :)

Glam plum

Plum does match the darker skin tone

Nah, untuk urusan make up plum, aku serahkan sama blush on favoritku yang satu ini: TheBalm Instain Blush Pinstripe.

TheBalm Instain in Pinstripe
Vintage design, lovin' it!
The bold plum looks much softer on my skin

TheBalm sekarang ini jadi brand make up favorit aku.

Wow, it's so pricey! Tetep mahal, dan officially jadi lipstick termahal dari semua koleksi, tapi it's definitely recommended for matte & nude lip lovers!

Kenapa?

Look how small NARS lipstick is!

Plummy nude colour
  • NARS Pure Matte Lipstick ini gak bikin bibir terasa kering.
  • Konsistensinya bagus, kelihatan banget kalau ini barang high-end
  • Opaque dan pigmented
  • Tahan lama, kalau gak pakai makan (hanya minum) warnanya bakalan stay di bibir sampai 6 jam
  • Gak gampang faded
  • Review lebih lengkap ada di sini

It's plummy but natural

Courtesy of Karlasugar

Finally, FOTD! Till the next review... <3

OPI Stranger Tides: Joyful Green to End the Year

While lots of beauty bloggers demonstrated make up tutorial -- eyes, lashes, lips, cheeks -- I would like to share my review of OPI Nail Lacquer on Stranger Tides.

I am not kind of nail polish person, I don't posses beautiful fingers and tidy nails. Yet I am falling in love playing with colors gradation, and OPI, I must admit, has a very wide range of shade selections for nail polish. Although there are some colors with dupes, but sometimes, the color is one-of-a-kind, which you rarely can find in other brands.

When it comes to favorite shades, I'm always in love with pastels and pale ones, although I am not keen to wear brighter colors, too. My pick this time is part of OPI Pirates of Caribbean's 2011 collections. If you are a fan of nude and pastels, you may find that the colors are drop dead gorgeous!

Front: Skull & Glossbones. Sheer grey/taupe; Middle (left to right): Steady As She Rose. Light sheer purple, Sparrow Me The Drama. Muted pink/rose cream; Planks A Lot. Muted lavender; Back (left to right): Stranger Tides. Light dusty army-green;
Mermaid Tears. Beautiful dusty turquoise

Okay, so I decided to buy one. I was quite confused because I wanted to have all :D My top two favorites are Sparrow Me The Drama and Stranger Tides. I browsed on several online stores and YEAY, I found Stranger Tides was on sale here!

As described above, Stranger Tides is a very beautiful subtle dusty army-green, but don't get it wrong, the color is opaque enough with 2 coats of application and it has creamy texture, too. No shine, no shimmer, just a glossy cream. I would prefer to call it with baby green. I was quite surprised that the color, like usually happened with baby blue or baby purple, didn't wash my nails out.

OPI Stranger Tides with 2 coats application
My rating is 4.0/5.0

The downside probably because I found it's a bit uneven and difficult to apply, and of course, the price. OPI's price at counter in Jakarta is quite high, IDR 195,000 :(

However, if it was on 50% sale, who would resist? ~xoxo~

TGIF and I'm Going Retro

Thanks God It's Friday!

This morning, I accidentally found a nice chiffon blue shirt with polka-dot pattern on my sister's closet.

Without telling her, I immediately wear it (hey, it's kind of revenge actually, because she wore one of my shirts last time without permission, haha :D) FYI, my sister lives in Bandung. She's on her 3rd grade studying at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), majoring Industrial Engineering. We have a huge age gap -- 9 years -- but fortunately she is my only sister (and sibling!) so no matter how annoying she could be, I still love her and so does she :* and I hope she wouldn't love me less just because I 'stole' her shirt.

I love the shirt because it has kind of retro style. So, I suddenly thought that I should wear a retro make up, too. Moreover, I just had my hair curled from the digital perm last month.

Polka-dot and wavy hair? Oh I feel so 80's!

Here's my today's look

Going retro with silvery eye shadow and nude matte lipstick

Apparently, still not gone too far from my signature l

And for my FOTD, I am wearing:
  • Caring Colors Stay True Foundation in #3 Natural Glow (I'll review later, it's one of good local products)
  • VOV Cover Foundation in Light Brown (wear it as concealer to cover heavy acne marks)
  • MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder NC30
  • Urban Decay Dangerous Eye Palette in Mushroom (see the review of this palette here)
  • Silkygirl Double Intense Gel Eyeliner in Dark Brown (another underrated drugstore product. love it!)
  • Revlon Eye Brow Pencil in Brown
  • NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna (another list to review, soon! ^.~)
  • Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense in #1 Mat Flesh (trust me, this nude matte lipstick is the winner!)

See you again in the next review!
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

~xoxo~
